Google Announces Fitbit Air

Back on May 7th, Google announced the Fitbit Air, a new, screenless, health and fitness tracker:

Fitbit has always been committed to making great wearable technology that works for as many people as possible, through the right form factors and the right price points. But even today, many people find wearable devices to be too bulky, too complicated or too expensive.

That’s where Fitbit Air comes in — it’s simple, affordable and comfortable enough to wear 24/7. It was designed to unlock the full power of the Google Health Coach, bringing personal health insights and recommendations to everyone.

The Fitbit Air has a similar look to existing trackers by companies like Whoop, which have been pretty popular over the past few years, albeit with little competition so it will be interesting to see if and how this might shake things up.

And while it’s not exactly the same thing, the Fitbit Air somewhat reminds me of the Fitbit Flex (which I actually reviewed way back in 2014) and similar health and fitness trackers that were available a number of years ago.
