Parental Controls

If you would like to choose what people who use your computer access, such as what websites they’re allowed on, how long they’re allowed to use the computer, as well as receive logs of what users are doing, and are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, perhaps you should try using the built in Parental Controls.

Parental Controls are included in the Home Basic, Home Premium, as well as Ultimate versions of Windows Vista, as well as Windows 7.

With Parental Controls, you can view activity reports of what users are doing and then modify settings based on those reports.

You can also set time limits as to when users are allowed to use the computer, with the default setting being that users are allowed to use the computer during all hours of the day. You can set the time that a user is allowed to use the computer by simply clicking on the time on a grid. Parental Controls can also be enabled or disabled.

Also, you can set limits on web browsing, as well as which games and programs can be used. You can also block games and programs, as well as websites from being used.

If you would like to use the Parental Controls included in Windows Vista, you can do so by going to the Control Panel and then clicking on “Set up parental controls for any user” under the “User Accounts and Family Safety” section.

If you would like to learn more about Parental Controls in Windows Vista, you can do so at the Parental Controls section of the Microsoft Website.

Apple WWDC

As you may already know, yesterday was the Apple Word Wide Developers Conference, held in San Francisco, California.

At the conference, Apple CEO, Steve Jobs announced the newest version of the iPhone, called iPhone 4.

Some of the new features of iPhone 4 are that you can now make video calls, as the new iPhone has both rear and front facing cameras. You can even switch between cameras during a video call at the tap of a button.

Also, iPhone 4 has a new, higher resolution display, called the Retina Display. The Retina Display has four times the pixel count than previous versions of the iPhone. According to Apple, the pixel density is so high, that the human eye can not distinguish between individual pixels.

Another new feature of iPhone 4 is the ability to multitask, or run multiple applications at the same time. Users can switch between applications instantly and not have to worry about slowing down the performance of the foreground application or draining their phone’s battery life unnecessarily.

The iPhone 4 also has the ability to record and edit videos in HD, as well as edit them on their phone by dragging to choose both start and end points. Also, you can use the iMovie application to edit your videos, which can be downloaded from the App Store $4.99.

The iPhone 4 also has a 5 MegaPixel camera with a built in LED flash on the back. You can also take self portraits with the new front facing camera.

Also announced at the Apple WWDC is the new iPhone operating system, called iOS 4.

Some new features included in iOS 4 include the ability to organize applications in folders. You can create up to 180 folders, which can each hold up to 12 applications. Folders can also be named based on what kind of applications are in them, or customize the name to whatever you want.

Another new feature in iOS 4 is the ability to download the free iBooks application, which is an e-book reader that allows you to purchase and read books right on your iPhone.

If you would like more information about iPhone 4, as well as iOS 4, you should visit the Apple website.

Delivering Happiness

Even though this post isn’t really about technology, it’s about something that you may find interesting.

Delivering Happiness – A Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose, a book by Tony Hsieh, the CEO of Zappos.com launched today.

Delivering Happiness – A Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose is a book about how Tony Hsieh decided to get involved in Internet companies and how he discovered what his passion was.

Since Hsieh was a child, he knew that he wanted to be involved in the world of business, starting a worm business, which later failed, and then moving on to a button business, which he advertised in a magazine. Both of these businesses were started when he was only a child.

Once Hsieh got older, attended college and while he was at college, bought pizzas and sold them on campus in order to make money.

After college, Hsieh and a classmate were offered jobs as software engineers at Oracle and while working at Oracle, Hsieh co-founded LinkExchange, a company which enabled people to advertise their websites on other websites.

Eventually, LinkExchange was purchased by Microsoft and then Tony decided to become an investor, creating an investment firm called Venture Frogs, which is how he discovered a website who’s creator wanted to call ShoeSite. This is the website that eventually became Zappos.

Eventually, Tony Hsieh became the CEO of Zappos.com in 2000.

Zappos has since grown into a website where people can buy shoes, accessories, as well as other items.

Zappos also has great customer service, as that is one of the principles that the company is based on.

I would recommend this book to entrepreneurs, people who are thinking of starting a business, or anyone that is interested in the Internet and technology, as well as those who simply want to read a good book.

FaceBook Privacy Controls

If you’re a FaceBook user, you may have recently heard about a concern for people’s privacy on their FaceBook accounts.

FaceBook has recently released improved privacy controls on their website, as well as a privacy guide, which provides users with information about how FaceBook’s new privacy controls work.

Also, on FaceBook’s blog, CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted about the new features that were added to FaceBook’s privacy controls.

When you go to your privacy settings page, you will be able to see what your current privacy settings are, as well as change them to one of four different privacy options, including “Everyone”, “Friends of Friends”, “Friends Only”, “Recommended”, and “Custom”.

On the privacy settings page, you can also find links to pages where you can edit your directory information, application and website settings, and block lists.

Also, if you are a minor, FaceBook’s privacy settings work differently than they would if you were an adult. If you are a minor and set your privacy settings to “Everyone”, only their “Friends”, “Friends of Friends”, and people in any verified networks they are a part of are able to see their information. However, there are exceptions to this, such as “Search for me on FaceBook” and “Send me friend requests”, which will be set to “Everyone” if they have their privacy settings set to “Everyone”.

If you would like to view or change your FaceBook account’s privacy settings, you can do so by going to FaceBook.com/privacy.
